SCBC Assist Inc. has grown out of our commitment to help those who come to us in some form of need. It is generously resourced by income from our Born Again Boutique Op shop as well as with donations from the business community (Blooms the Chemist, Warilla Grove; Bakers’ Delight Bread, Warilla Grove); the generous donations of the people of Albion Park Baptist Church, Warilla North Baptist Church and Shellharbour City Baptist Church; NSW Department of Water and Energy (DWE) and some limited assistance from Telstra.

No referral is necessary but we do ask that you make an appointment on 02 4297 3667.

We are presently staffed by volunteers Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10.00 till 2.00pm

Mission Statement

We aim to assist people of Shellharbour City live financially, socially and spiritually responsible lives.

We do this by building relationships with those who come to us for help.

In the context of those relationships we challenge people to live responsibly.

General Profile

We may be able to help with:

  • Emergency food staples and bread
  • Limited Electricity and Gas assistance with EAPA vouchers and negotiate payment plans with providers.
  • Telstra phone assistance for Landlines
  • Assistance with medical prescriptions (PBS) and other emergency chemist needs.
  • Advocacy and support, particularly with government departments
  • Assist with setting up Centrepay
  • Clothing assistance through “Born Again Boutique” vouchers
  • Listening and  support
  • Random Acts of Kindness –
    • simple home assistance, maintenance
    • clearing and disposal of rubbish ( for tip fees)
    • loan of a trailer or lawnmower
  • Referrals for:
    • Gambling support
    • Drug and alcohol counseling and rehabilitation
    • Emergency Housing
    • Budgeting and Financial advice (through Creditworthy) on our premises
    • Leisure activities
    • Mental Illness

Would you like to help?

At Assist we can always use help in the following areas:

  • Financial contributions gratefully received with donations of $2.00 or more being tax deductable
  • Non perishable food donations are vital part of our service.
  • ‘People’ contributions –
    • Assistance with transport to rehab, appointments etc
    • Time to spend with lonely or shut-ins
    • Time to walk alongside a person, support at housing tribunal
    • Assistance with house clearing /cleaning, simple maintenance
    • Assist with talking to and assisting clients at the office – training is available to suitable volunteers.

Christmas Lunch at Warilla North Community Centre

12 Noon Christmas Day

Free to anyone in the community who would like to have Christmas Lunch with others on Christmas Day

Transport available on request
