SCBC Leaders

We'd like to introduce you to the leaders of our church.

Judy Dyble – married with two adult children and 1 grandchild.
I came to know God when I was about 16 years old but didn’t really know Him until recently when I met God “Face to Face”. My relationship with Him now is exciting and vibrant and I often see the power of God as I pray for others and as he works in other people’s lives. I am particularly passionate about coming alongside people and nurturing and uplifting them. Showing Christ in my actions.
I see myself as a nurturer. I am down to earth and can relate to people and the struggles they are going through in their lives. God has given me an empathy for people and their pain which helps me to relate to them easier.
Allowing Jesus to be part of my life is the best decision I have ever made. I am never alone & I am amazed by His love for me and those around me. Jesus wants us all to experience His awesome presence. He wants you to come into His family and be blessed & loved.

Clive McKibbin – married with two children
I always had a consciousness of God, but really encountered Jesus as Lord in my mid twenties. I then married and, moved and had children eventually settling within a church community were I grew and matured in my faith. I have a passion to see the “body of Christ” come together in unity, faith and the knowledge of the Son of God. I see myself as an encourager of the faithful and want to play my part in seeing God’s glory unfold more and more through teaching, prayer and the prophetic word.

Michelle Meares – married with two children
I have always loved God and can not remember a time when Jesus was not my Saviour, having said that I have definitely grown in maturity and intimacy in the last 5 years. My Father has carried me through some very tough times, but His love has sustained me, granted me peace and kept me strong. My desire is to continue to grow in His strength following His path for my life. I desire to see our church grow in Christ and through that reach out into our community caring for those that are “lost”. I love to spend time with family and friends and would love to see each and every one of them in heaven with me.

John Thomson – married with three adult children
I have been a christian for 39 years now and have had a great passion for leading people and helping people ever since. I have had many roles within the church and enjoy serving people. I am aware of the wonderful things that Christ has done for me and enjoy passing this knowledge on to those around me through pastoral care, preaching and praying with people. I am passionate for the Holy Spirit to be more real in me, through me and to others. My dream for this world is see to the Holy Spirit move, and thousands upon thousands of people come to know Jesus as their Saviour, and for each person to grow to maturity in Christ through belonging to a local church.

Judy Thomson – married with 3 adult children.
I have been walking with God since I was a child. There has never been a time when I haven’t been aware of God’s great love for us. He has always been there through the high’s and the lows and yet He still surprises me. His love is stronger each day and as I seek more of Him my love for Him also grows stronger.
I am particularly passionate about people seeking a closer relationship with God. I am into teaching them about God, praying for them, helping people to find the fullness and pleasure that life is when you know Jesus.
In leadership I help out by being the treasurer of the church, being part of the prayer ministry, speaking into people’s lives word’s that are from the heart of God. Always looking forward to seeing lives changed, people healed & people free in Christ Jesus.

Rob Thomson – married with 2 adult children.
I was brought up in a loving Christian family and my encounter with Jesus was a gradual “dawning” rather than a profound road to Damascus conversion. I have been walking with Jesus and getting closer to him for over 30 years and in Him I find my meaning and reason. My theology has been shaped by my upbringing, my life in Baptist Churches and my exploring of other thinkers and writers and from studying the Bible.
I have a passion in telling the story differently and for retelling the Gospel for the people of postcode 2528. I love playing the congas for the band, I produce the conch and the weekly Bulletin and I organize Church in the Pub.

Ronda van Akker – married with four adult children and five grandchildren
I have always loved God and decided I would follow Jesus at 10 years old and have done ever since, growing more and more in love as I have learnt how great, gracious and true he is. I know that he is always with me during the highs, lows and lucky for me everything in between. My desire is to see our church growing in their knowledge of the real Christ and being able to spread that knowledge through the community. I want to see justice prevail, the oppressed encouraged and those with addictions released. I care and am interested in people, am a great listener, always taking care to be aware of all sides in a situation. I enjoy spending time traveling in our caravan, doing crosswords, playing scrabble and socializing with friends.
