Discipleship

At Shellharbour City Baptist Church we seek to follow Jesus’ last command, which is:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”
   Matthew 28:19

To better enable our people to do this we have established a discipleship school where our endeavour is to equip people to step out and make disciples. Our philosophy is:

In seeking to equip our disciples we follow this basic structure:

• Give a commitment to Jesus
• Be baptized
• Join a life group
• The Journey to Freedom (lead up)
• Encounter Retreat (a weekend away meeting with God)
• Discovery 1: Finding the Rock
• Discovery 2: Staying the Course
• Discovery 3: Reaching the Summit

As we emerge from our training we are ready to face a changing world, a world that needs Jesus, equipped with his power to:

“ cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.”
   Matthew 10:7
